UnitedHealthcare is the largest commercial insurer in the United States, and its credentialing is complicated by its relationship with Optum. Medical services enroll through UHC, but behavioral health benefits are carved out to Optum, meaning therapists and psychiatrists must credential with Optum separately even to see UHC members.
